2027 March break dates by province

Here is what the official school calendars consulted on October 22, 2026 provide. Dates can change: confirm them with the school before buying non-refundable tickets.

Québec: most school service centres schedule the break for March 1 to 5, 2027. For example, the 2026-2027 calendar of the Centre de services scolaire de Montréal lists the school-break week on those dates. Each centre sets its own calendar: confirm with the school.
Ontario: from Monday, March 15 to Friday, March 19, 2027 (Ontario Ministry of Education).
Nova Scotia: March 8 to 12, 2027, inclusive (Nova Scotia Department of Education).
Manitoba: from Monday, March 29 to Friday, April 2, 2027, spring vacation (Manitoba Department of Education).
British Columbia and Alberta: it varies by school district or division, and several districts schedule their break between mid-March and the end of March. Check your district's calendar.
Holy Week: Good Friday falls on March 26, 2027 and Easter on March 28 (calendar dates; the Manitoba and Nova Scotia calendars mark Good Friday on March 26).
Mexico: Mexico's spring school break (SEP) runs from March 22 to April 3, 2027, with classes resuming on April 5. Cancún and the Riviera Maya then host many Mexican families. These dates overlap with the break in Manitoba and in parts of British Columbia and Alberta, but not with Québec or Ontario.

Why book early

March is the winter high season in Cancún. The break weeks concentrate demand from Canadian families and, from March 22 to April 3, from Mexican families.

Family hotels with kids' clubs and family rooms (several beds, or connecting rooms) are among the first to fill up.

Air Canada and Air Transat sell flights to Cancún from Montréal, Québec City, Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver, with more flights in winter. Air Canada has announced nonstop flights between Calgary and Cancún from December 11, 2026 to April 11, 2027 (seasonal service). Kids' travel documents

Here is what the Government of Canada says about Canadian children travelling outside the country.

A passport for every child

Canadian children need their own Canadian passport to travel outside Canada.
The passport must be valid for the whole of the stay. The airline may require a longer validity: check with it.
Check the expiry date of every passport before you book.

The consent letter

A consent letter is not legally required in Canada.
The Government of Canada recommends one when a child travels with only one parent, with relatives or friends, or in a group.
Foreign authorities, airlines and Canadian authorities may ask for it. Without it, there may be delays or a refusal of entry or exit.
It is recommended that it be signed in front of a notary. The form is on travel.gc.ca.

Weather, beach and sargassum

March is outside the Caribbean hurricane season, which runs from early June to the end of November according to the Government of Canada.

Sargassum can reach some beaches at different times of the year, and there is no official calendar. Before you leave, check the traffic-light system of the Quintana Roo Sargassum Monitoring Network, and choose your hotel according to its beach.
